Facing its toughest opponent on the season in the Baruch Bearcats, ranked No. 9 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 15 poll, the Lightning fought valiantly before falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16) on Tuesday night.
Lehman received strong attacking games from seniors
Nate Martin (9 kills) and
R.J. LeBlanc (8 kills). Freshman
Miguel Gallardo led the team with 17 assists.
The Bearcats were paced by Pablo Oliveira who recorded 13 kills and 11 digs. Jesus Echevarria was on point with his passing, compiling 21 assists on the evening.
With the loss, the Lightning drops to 7-8 overall (4-4 CUNYAC) while the Bearcats improve to 15-9 (8-0 CUNYAC).
The Lightning returns to Lehman for its first home game in nearly two weeks to host Brooklyn College on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
