BRONX, N.Y. - A quick turnaround from its loss on Friday didn't help the Lightning women's tennis team build any momentum on Saturday afternoon as Lehman dropped its second straight in 24 hours, losing 9-0 to visiting St. Joseph's.
The Lightning's No. 1 doubles team of
Daraliz Collado and
Nellya Blinova offered the most resistance to their Golden Eagles counterparts, but still fell 8-2 to the combo of Katie Soeder and Nancy Marroquin. Lehman's No. 2 doubles team of
Jeremaeh Torres and
Patricia Cadet was stunted 8-1 by the St. Joe's pairing of Carolyn Hartmann and Kathryn Wood.
Split apart when it came time for singles play, Collado and Blinova were overwhelmed by Soder and Marroquin just the same with each losing 10-1. St. Joseph's pitched a shutout in No. 3 through No. 5 singles play with Cadet, Torres and Janaya Foster taking the losses for Lehman.
The Lightning was forced to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles play.
Lehman will have a few days to regroup before getting back on the courts for its first CUNYAC match of the season on Tuesday afternoon against visiting Medgar Evers College.
