Lehman Men's Basketball Falls at Medgar Evers

Box Score

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team could not hold a three-point lead at the half, and fell to host Medgar Evers College, 70-58, on Tuesday night. Lehman took its first loss of the season, and is now 3-1 overall, and 0-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. MEC is now 3-2 overall, and 1-0 in the CUNYAC.

Lehman took an eight point lead early in the second half, as junior Stanley Stephens (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center) had steal that led to a monstrous breakaway dunk at the 17:01 mark.

The game went back-and-forth, with the score tied several times. Finally, with 10:37 on the clock, MEC took the lead, on a layup by Valin Williams. Lehman would then go stale, and not score for nearly four minutes.

With just 3:24 to play, Lehman trailed by just five, 63-58. From there, Medgar would score the game's final seven points to take the win.

On the evening, junior Kelvin Gil (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) led Lehman in scoring with 20 points. Stephens had 13, and senior Quaseem Weems (Bronx, N.Y./Beacon) added 12.

Lehman will take the hardwood again on Friday, November 30, at Hunter College.
