NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Lehman men's volleyball team got the conference portion of its schedule started right on Saturday, defeating both Brooklyn College and City College of New York by identical 3-0 scores as part of a City University of New York Athletic Conference multi-match held at Hunter College.

Led by 11 kill games from Brian Francisco and Manuel Bonilla, the Lightning dispatched the Bulldogs in the first match of the day by the scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-22.  Francisco and Bonilla compiled outstanding attack percentages of .846 and .667, respectively, while devastating Brooklyn with unreturnable blasts from the frontline.  Luis Colon added 12 digs and Miguel Gallardo served up 31 assists in the win.

In the day's second match against CCNY, Lehman was equally as impressive, toppling the Beavers 25-12, 25-15, and 25-16.  Once again Francisco put the ball away with great efficiency, slamming 10 kills to lead the team with an attack percentage of .600.   Bonilla and Colon added seven kills each.

Lehman was particularly effective from the service line, firing 12 aces, with Francisco leading the charge with four.
Aside from the third against the Bulldogs where Brooklyn and Lehman were tied at 21-21, the Lightning rarely was threatened and often played from comfortably in front.

The team will get a stiff test in its next match when nationally ranked Baruch College visits the APEX on Wednesday, February 8.
