Straight Sets Win for Men's Volleyball Against Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Lightning's lengthy stretch of conference matches got off to a good start on Tuesday night as Lehman took care of host Brooklyn College in straight sets (25-19, 25-21, 25-13) to improve to 12-6 overall and 6-3 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference.

Lehman did not trail in the match until the start of the third set when it dropped the first point to Brooklyn.

Luis Colon provided a strong effort in the victory, racking up a team-high in kills (10) and digs (10).  Back in his customary setter position Miguel Gallardo handed out 25 assists.  Brian Francisco and Manuel Bonilla each slammed eight kills with Francisco also adding four service aces.  As a team the Lightning fired 12 aces, adding to its conference-leading total of 175.

Brooklyn put up its best fight in the third, holding a lead as late as 8-7 before the Lightning kicked things into gear by scoring 18 of the next 23 points to capture the match.

The Lightning's 6-3 conference record has the team firmly entrenched in the No. 4 spot in the conference with a big match upcoming against Hunter College this Saturday as part of a CUNYAC multi-match at York College.

Lehman will first battle City College of New York on Thursday night, however, on the Beavers home floor.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
