Lightning Men Grab 1 of 2 at CUNYAC Multi-Match

JAMAICA, N.Y. - York College played host to Saturday's CUNYAC volleyball multi-match where the Lehman men's team picked up a win in two tries against conference opponents Hunter and Medgar Evers.

In the first match Lehman was upended by Hunter, 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-20), as the Hawks kept their conference record spotless at 10-0. The reverse held true for the second match with Lehman taking out Medgar Evers 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-18) to keep the Cougars winless on the season.

Luis Colon notched 10 kills to lead a Lightning attack that never really got in sync, while Miguel Gallardo added 29 assists. The combo of Jerin Kallickal and Eric Barty combined for 24 kills for the Hawks.

Lehman bounced back in the second match against the Cougars as Brian Francisco's 11 kills and Gallardo's 27 assists fronted a Lightning effort that also featured 21 service aces.

With the split Lehman now sits at 14-7 overall and 7-4 in the conference.

The Lightning will see a familiar face on Tuesday for its next match when the team battles Hunter once again, this time on the Hawks home court.
