Men's Volleyball Has Split Day at NJCU Quad-Match

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Lehman College men's volleyball had a split day at the New Jersey City University Quad-Match on Saturday, beating Gallaudet University, 3-0, while falling to the host NJCU, 3-0, and Penn State Behrend, 3-0. The Lightning are now 5-5 on the season.

Against regional power NJCU, set scores were 25-10, 25-18, 25-18. Lehman had a balanced attack, with four different players recording three or four kills. First-year player Ibrahima Souare (Bronx, N.Y./Social Justice) had three kills on four attempts, a team-high .750 hitting percentage. Senior Luis Colon (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) had eight assists and four digs, while senior Brian Francisco (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) had four kills, seven assists, and four digs.

Against Gallaudet, the Lightning rolled to a straight set victory, sweeping the Bison 25-22, 25-11, 28-26. Francisco was brilliant, recording 15 kills, seven service aces, and six digs. Colon led all players with 21 assists.

In the finale, Behrend took the win, 25-12, 25-15, 25-19. Leading the Lightning was junior Manuel Bonilla (Bronx, N.Y./Walton), who had seven kills, four digs, and two block assists, while Francisco had six kills, eight assists, and six digs. Colon added a team-high 13 assists.

Up next for Lehman is a trip to Baruch College on Tuesday, February 26. The next home date is Thursday, February 28, as Lehman has rescheduled its portion of the CUNYAC Multi-Match from February 9. Lehman will host John Jay at 6:30 p.m., and York at 8:30 p.m.
