BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Hunter College on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-14, 25-12, 25-18. The Hawks (11-9, 10-1 CUNYAC) maintain their second place standing in the CUNYAC, while Lehman (11-13, 2-9 CUNYAC) remain in sixth place.
In the first set, Lehman jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, which led to a Hunter timeout. From there, Hunter took over and took the set. The second set saw the Hawks dominate early, racing out to a 6-0 lead before rolling to the win.
The third set was different, as the Lightning were able to stem the tide. Senior Brian Francisco (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) recorded a kill to knot the score at 16 apiece, on an assist from classmate Luis Colon (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy). But that was as close as the Lightning would get, never managing to take over the lead.
On the night, Francisco had ten kills to lean Lehman, hitting .185, while recording four digs. Colon had 15 set assists.
The Lightning will host the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday, March 26, at 6:00 p.m.
