Men's Basketball Rally Falls Short at McDaniel College

Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Lehman College men's basketball team dropped a hard fought game to host McDaniel College, 67-56, in non-conference action, on Sunday afternoon.

After trailing 47-35 early in the second half, the Lightning (4-2) surged to a 15-4 run in a span of 8:24, capped off by a layup from junior forward Jerrome Jones (Bronx, N.Y./Mount Vernon) to pull the visitors within one, with 8:37 left to play in regulation. A key moment in Lehman's resurgence was a three-point play from freshman guard John Brens (Washington Heights, N.Y./Riverside Christian Academy) as he laid the ball up and in while being fouled. He converted on the free throw to shrink McDaniel's (4-1) lead to 47-42 with 13:09 to go.

After the Green Terror regained a three-point lead, junior forward Chaun Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./Eleanor Roosevelt) countered with a successful jump shot to shrink Lehman's deficit back down to one again, with 5:38 remaining in the second stanza.

McDaniel would quickly tilt momentum to their favor by scoring the game's next ten points in less than three minutes to put the game out of reach for the Lightning. The Green Terror's aggressive defense held Lehman to just four points for the remaining 5:38 of the game as McDaniel went on to win by 11.

Lehman started the game off strong, scoring the contest's first four points on layups from Brens and Miller, just over a minute in. McDaniel rallied to take the lead, but Lehman answered back when Miller converted on a jump shot to tie the game at nine, in the early stages of the first half. The Green Terror took control of the game by scoring the game's next eleven points, and never looked back, as Lehman was forced to play catch-up throughout the remainder of the game.

Miller scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Senior guard Jonathan Greenfield (Hartford, Conn./Windsor) scored 14 points, while Jones added nine and blocked two shots. Brens scored six points and dished out two assists.

Lehman will be on the road again on Friday, for a CUNY Athletic Conference game against Medgar Evers, at 8:00 p.m.
