Men's Volleyball Fights Hard, Drops Match at Brooklyn College, 3-2

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball squad dropped a tough, 3-2, decision at Brooklyn College on Wednesday night. Lehman is now 4-2 overall, and 1-2 in the CUNYAC, while Brooklyn is 6-2, 2-1 CUNYAC.

The teams traded sets, with BC taking the first, third, and fifth, while Lehman claimed the second and fourth. Set scores were 25-15, 25-27, 25-16, 25-27, and 16-13.

With the score tied at two sets apiece, Lehman served to start the fifth and deciding set. Trailing 8-5, the Lightning ran off four straight points on the service of junior Aldo Pllumbaj (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland). Moments later, after a run by BC, sophomore Jaleel Lino (Bronx, N.Y./Toledo C.C.) knocked down a kill, and BC led 12-11.

But Lehman could not overcome the hosts, as the Bulldogs took the fifth set, 15-13.

For the match, junior Miguel Gallardo (Bronx, N.Y./Salesian) led the team with 14 kills and 20 digs. Lino added 12 kills and eight digs, while Roberto Perez (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership) contributed 34 assists.

As a team, Lehman hit just .096, while Brooklyn hit .248.

Up next, Lehman will head to Riverdale on Monday, February 17, for a 7:30 p.m. match at the College of Mt. St. Vincent.
