Indoor Track Sweeps Medgar Evers in Dual Meet

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Lehman College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed against Medgar Evers College in a dual meet at the Wesleyan University Track and Field Invitational III on Saturday, February 1. It was a clean sweep for the Lightning as the men's team won, 124-116, while the women's team won, 121-101.

Senior Aminat Adebayo (Brooklyn, NY / Erasmus Hall) led the way for the women by earning a second place finish in the shot put (10.64m).  She also claimed fourth in the weight throw (11.58m) for her second top five finish of the meet.

Freshman Mary Johnson (Bronx, N.Y./Taft Medical Science) also had success, placing sixth in the 60 meter dash, finishing the race in 8.70. Junior Jhanelle Mullings (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) finished the 60 meter dash in eight place, with a time of 8.74. She also finished in 19th place for the 200 meter dash, completing the race in 30.25. Senior Marcine Francis (Bronx, NY / Evander Childs) had the third farthest jump in the long jump event (3.74m).

On the men's side, sophomore Darian Livingston (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Thornton) finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.17. Sophomore Dashaun Michie (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) and sophomore Adalberto Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) were behind him with 9th and 14th place finishes, respectively.

Sophomore Pierre Francois (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) had a second place finish, of his own, in the long jump (6.23m).

Freshman John Pollina (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) came in fifth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.64.
