Men's Volleyball Beats Purchase in Two and a Half Hour Marathon

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team got back in the win column on Monday night, capturing a thrilling, 3-2, victory at Purchase College. Set scores were 25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 30-32, 15-11.

Lehman (5-6) claimed the first two sets, before the host Panthers (3-6) won the third and fourth, with that fourth set being an epic 32-30 affair. Lehman then won the fifth set, 15-11, concluding the two and a half hour match.

Sophomore hitter Jaleel Lino (Bronx, N.Y./Toledo C.C.) led the Lightning with 26 kills, while hitting .312. He added 52 digs and three service aces. Junior Miguel Gallardo (Bronx, N.Y./Salesian) added 15 kills, a team-high 57 digs, and six service aces. Sophomore setter Roberto Perez (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership) had 37 set assists and ten digs. As a team, Lehman had 13 total blocks, led by junior opposite hitter Aldo Pllumbaj (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland), who had two solo and three block assists.

The Lightning have now concluded a six match road trip, and will host CUNYAC rival Baruch on Thursday, February 27, at 6:00 p.m.
