BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team improved to 7-3 on the season, and 4-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, by defeating host Brooklyn College, 3-1, on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-14, 24-26, 30-28, 25-10.

The Lightning have now won six of its last seven matches, and have swept the season series with the Bulldogs.

Tonight's match was tight throughout, with Lehman winning the first set before Brooklyn took the second. In the third, Lehman rallied from behind before taking the fourth set for the win.

Lehman used a 6-0 run in the first set to break that open. Freshman Carlos Segura (Bronx, N.Y./Marble Hill) had a pair of consecutive kills during that run.

In the second set, the Lightning fought off set point three times before falling. The third set was tight as well, as the Bulldogs led 14-9. Lehman would use a 10-2 run to pull ahead, but the teams continued to trade points. Ultimately, the Lightning recorded the final three points of the set to win it, 30-28. In the fourth set, the Lightning were dominant, and never trailed.

For the match, junior Jaleel Lino (Punta Gorda, Belize/Toledo Community College) led all players with 25 kills and 15 digs, while Segura added 11 kills. As a team, Lehman hit just .125.

Junior Roberto Perez (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership) and senior Ahmad Abugharbieh (Amman, Jordan/Ittihad) played well defensively. Perez recorded 13 digs, while Abugharbieh had 11 digs and six total blocks.

The Lightning will take the weekend off, and next will play at Bard College on Tuesday, February 24.
