NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team fell to nationally ranked #10 Baruch, 3-0, in CUNY Athletic Conference action, on Thursday evening, in the Arc Arena. Set scores were 25-9, 25-14, and 25-21.

Junior Jaleel Lino (Punta Gorda, Belize/Toledo Community College) led the Lightning (8-4, 4-3 CUNYAC) attack with seven kills. Senior Miguel Gallardo (Bronx, N.Y./Salesian) tallied five kills and chipped in on defense with four digs. Junior Ramon Jimenez (New York, N.Y./George Washington) and freshman Roberto Ventura Diaz (New York, N.Y./Cardenal Sancha) each produced four kills, while classmate Emmanuel Ortiz (Bronx, N.Y./Alfred E. Smith) recorded four digs.

After dropping the first two sets, the Lightning got off to a quick start in the third. A kill from Diaz gave Lehman an early 4-3 advantage. Gallardo had a kill of his own to extend the Lightning's lead to 6-4. With the set tied at nine, Jimenez slammed home a kill to give the visiting team a one-point lead. After Baruch (9-3, 6-1 CUNYAC) tied it up, Lino's kill helped Lehman regain the lead, 12-11. The Lightning were able to keep the set close throughout, but the Bearcats were able to pull away in the end to win the frame, 25-21, and clinch the match.

Lehman will return home on Saturday, to battle Sarah Lawrence College, beginning at noon.
