Strong Second Half Powers Lightning Past Bearcats

New York, NY – Lehman (11-3:6-1) outscored Baruch (8-7:4-3) 45-36 in the second half to turn a two point deficit at the break into a 79-72 victory.
Olando Minott netted 18 points to pace the Lightning. He was one of five players in double figures. Chaun Miller added 16, John Brens and Edwin Pascual tallied 12 apiece while Andrew Utate came off the bench to score10 points.

After a Minott three-point with 8:04 remaining in the first half the Lightning led by eight, 27-19. It was the biggest lead of the night by either team in the opening half. However, four minutes later with the Lightning still on top, 31-24, the Bearcats went on a 12-0 run to take a five point advantage. Miller was able to stem the tide by draining a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the first half.

Early in the second half, the Bearcats pushed their advantage to five, but Lehman would answer with a 9-0 run. The Bearcats battled back to tie the game at 45. With the score tied at 47, Lehman would go on 7-0 spurt to take a 54-47 lead with eight minutes to play. Astrit Krasniqi's lay-up started the run and gave the Lightning the lead they would not surrender. The Bearcats were able to cut the lead to two (68-62) but Minott drained four consecutive free throws for the Lightning.

The Bearcats were led by Doyin Isaac's 24 points.

The Lightning return home on Friday night to face Hunter.
