Basketball Preview…….Lightning travel to Baruch

The Lightning basketball teams will make the trip to Manhattan this evening to take on the Bearcats of Baruch in a key CUNYAC battle.

The Lehman (9-5:4-1) women are riding a two game winning streak including a hard fought road victory at Staten Island this past weekend. Baruch on the other hand sits at 5-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play having lost their last two. The Bearcats dropped a 12 point decision at Brooklyn this past weekend and just last night fell to Amherst College.

Lehman's Karrin Walker is the reigning conference player of the week. This past week Walker was dominating, leading Lehman to two wins. The senior averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds against Mt. St. Vincent and the College of Staten Island. Just four games into her season, Walker is averaging a double-double while leading the team in rebounding.

Jacqueline Kennedy leads Baruch in both scoring and rebounding. The junior is averaging 18.8 points and 14.3 rebounds per game.

Women's Live Stats

On the men's side, Lehman (10-3:5-1) sits atop the standings at 5-1 while Baruch (8-6:4-2) is in a log jam in second place with three teams all with two losses. The Lightning look to rebound from their first conference loss of the season this past weekend at Staten Island. The Bearcats traveled to New Haven on Monday night and came out on the short end of a 91-89 decision against Albertus Magnus.

Baruch swept the CUNYAC weekly awards this past week as Chimaechi Ekekeugbor earned Player of the Week honors and Doyin Isaac took home the Rookie of Week. Ekekeugbor is the Bearcats leading scorer averaging just over 18 points per contest.

Lehman is being led by seniors Olando Minott and Chaun Miller. The dynamic duo combines for 35 points per contest.
