Lightning Drop Season Opener

Albany, NY - The Lightning Men's Volleyball started their season with a road tri-match. They fell to the Sage College and Mt. Ida College by identical 3-0 scores. Both matches were contested in Albany, NY at the Sage Colleges.

Against the Gators, the Lightning fell by set scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-15. Orlando Vargas and Ramon Jimenez led Lehman with 17 and 12 attacks respectively. Vargas also registered a team high five service aces. Emmanuel Ortiz was credited with 11 assists.

In the first set with the score tied at 10, Sage went on a 10-4 to take control before going on to win the set 25-16. In the second set with the score tied at 6, the Gators went on an 8-0 from which the Lightning could not recover. Sage was able to slowly pull away in the third set to earn the sweep.

Against Mt. Ida. Vargas and Jimenez once again paced the Lightning. Vargas was credited with 12 kills on 30 attacks while Jimenez recorded six kills on 16 attacks. Ortiz registered 23 assists. The match was highly competitive as the Lightning fell to the Mustangs by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-23.

Lehman continues its season Tuesday night at Bard. On Wednesday the Lightning will face Yeshiva in their home opener at 8:00 PM.
