Gabe Lorenzo talks with Andrew Utate, Ed Pascaul, John Brens and Coach Steve Schulman
Bronx, NY - The Lightning tip-off the 2016-17 campaign tonight as they travel to the Bronx to face rival Maritime College. Fans unable to travel to Riesenberg Gymnasium in Throggs Neck can follow all of the action on line via

Lehman finished last season 18-8 overall and 12-4 in the CUNY conference. The Lightning will have to replace three key players from a year ago if they want to retain their regular season conference title. Gone are leading scorers
Chaun Miller and
Olando Minott. The duo averaged more than 36 points almost 13 rebounds per contest. Last year's starting center Olu Williams, gone to graduation also leaves big shoes to fill. Williams averaged eight points and five rebounds per game.
This year
Andrew Utate will join the starting line-up. Last year, he was the super sub, who came off the bench on a regular basis. However, he was the third leading scorer on squad. He averaged 11.7 points and four rebounds per game a year ago.
John Brens and Ed Pascual will provide veteran leadership in the back court. Brens started in all but one contest while Pascaul joined the starting five the second half of the season.
Also returning are
Astrit Krasniqi,
Vince Young,
Ja-Zhyoun Laing and
Paris Underwood.
Last season the Lightning shot an impressive 46% from the field and will have to shoot just as well this season if they plan on being one of the elite teams in the conference.
Coach Steve Schulman, the reigning CUNYAC Coach of the Year, has brought in a talented group of players to fill the void.
Mylo Mitchell,
Luis Hernandez,
Tommy Batista,
Dominek Tucker,
Jean Marcial,
Clinton Akalonu,
Damian Bellamy,
Devin Mattioli-Hartnett and
Edwin Zorrilla have all been battling in practice looking to crack the starting line-up.
The Lightning continue life on the road this weekend at the Vassar Tip-off Tournament. Lehman will face Farmingdale in their home opener on November 22
nd.
