Bronx, NY - The men's and women's basketball teams open the CUNYAC portion of their schedules tonight as the play host to CCNY. The women's swimming and diving team is also in action against CUNYAC foe Hunter.
The men's basketball game tips first at 5:00 pm. Last season the Lightning came away with a pair of victories over the Beavers. Lehman defeated CCNY 85-80 in the APEX and squeaked out a 70-69 in Nat Holman. The Beavers come into tonight's contest with a 1-3 mark. Four players are averaging double figures including leading scorer Khalil Hammer. Hammer is averaging 21.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
The Lightning are 2-2 after earning a hard fought victory over Farmingdale last week.
Andrew Utate leads the way averaging 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per night. Newcomer
Damian Bellamy is off to a strong start chipping in 13.3 point and 5.5 rebounds per game. Edwin Pasquale and
John Brens are averaging 12.5 and 11.5 points per game respectively.

The women will hoist a championship banner recognizing the accomplishments of their squad from a year ago in a pre-game ceremony.
Last season the Lightning and Beavers tangled three times on the hardwood with Lehman coming out on top on all three occasions. The Lightning needed overtime to win the game 83-80 in the Bronx before a raucous homecoming crowd. In the rematch two weeks later Lehman prevailed 69-58. The two teams also met in the semi-finals of the conference tournament where Lehman also came away with a five point victory.
This year the Lightning are once again being led by
Amely Del Rosario. Through the first three games of the season, the Bronx native is averaging 36 points per game. Newcomers,
Lynda Fields,
Krystal Pearson and Shakia Artiist are all averaging double figures.
Erika Richards leads the Beavers with a 20.5 average. Alexis Akridge is coming off the bench, averaging 10.5 points per game.
