Bronx, NY- The Lehman College men's and women's basketball teams will travel to CUNYAC rival Brooklyn in a key early season battle.

The Lightning (3-2:2-0) women earned a pair of conference victories this past week, defeating CCNY and John Jay.  Against the Beavers, Lehman struggled in the first half but rallied in the second half to turn a six-point half time advantage into 78-44 victory.  Lynda Fields paced the Lightning with a career high 35 points.  Amely Del Rosario and Selima Sangare added 20 and 10 points respectively.  Most recently, the Lightning cruised past John Jay 84-45. Shakia Artist posted a rare triple double that included 17 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs stand at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.  Olivia Colbert leads Brooklyn in scoring and rebounding.  The 5-11 junior is averaging 11 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.  Tonight is a rematch of last year's CUNYAC final in which the Lightning prevailed 73-67 in overtime.

Lehman (3-3:1-1) earned their first conference victory of the season this past Saturday, defeating John Jay 87-77.  Andrew Utate scored a season high 30 points.  The captain leads the Lightning in scoring this season with a 17.2 points per game average.  Newcomer Damian Bellamy is chipping in 13 points a night while Ed Pascual and John Brens are adding 12 and 11.5 points per game.

The Brooklyn men (2-4:0-1) are looking for their first conference victory of the season.  The Bulldogs have dropped three of their last four including an 86-74 decision at Stevens this past weekend.  Austin Wood scored 34 points in a losing effort.  The Bulldogs owned a 13 point lead at halftime but were out played in the second half and could not hold on for victory.  Five players are averaging double figures for the Bulldogs.  Austin, a senior, leads the way with a 20.2 points per game average.

Fans unable to travel to Brooklyn for the double header can view the contests on the Bulldogs inaugural stream. Live stats are not available.
