Lehman to Recognize Seniors Before Basketball Finale

Bronx, NY - Lehman will honor eight seniors (four men and four women) on Tuesday night before the double header against the Dolphins of CSI.

The women's game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 PM and the four seniors, Yarmese Jones, Karrin Walker, Amani Lightbourne and Jennifer Navarro will all be honored prior to tip-off.  Jones has played two seasons for the Lightning.  This year she is averaging 7.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest.  Walker, also in her second season on the squad, has recorded ten double doubles this season.  Last season, she was a first team CUNYAC All-Star, the team's Most Valuable Player and a Third Team All-Star as voted by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.  Amani Lightbourne became the newest member of the 1,000 point club last week.  A three year player, Lightbourne was a second team CUNYAC All-Star a year ago.  She has started all but one game this season and is averaging 13.4 points per contest.  Jennifer Navarro will end her career at Lehman as one of the top five scorers in CUNYAC women's basketball history.  As a freshman she led the country in three-point field goals made.  Coming into tonight's contest she also leads the country.

Tonight is the regular season finale for both teams.   Earlier this season Lehman defeated CSI 76-69.

For the Lightning it will be there third game in five days.  After tonight the Lightning will jump into the semi-finals and not play again till Wednesday, February 24 in the CUNYAC semi-finals.

If fans cannot get to the APEX for the pre-game ceremony, fear not.  The game and pre-game activities will be live streamed.  Live stats will also be available.

The men's contest has a lot on the line as the winner will earn the top seed in the CUNYAC post season tournament.  The loser could fall to third depending on the outcome of the Baruch at Brooklyn contest that also tips tonight.  The Lightning and Dolphins are each sporting an 11-4 mark in conference play with Brooklyn one game back.

Earlier this year CSI defeated Lehman 82-76.  In that game Olando Minott paced the Lightning with 23 points while Chaun Miller added 18.

Before the game, seniors Jobse Reyes, Olu Williams, Miller and Minott will be recognized.  Reyes is finishing his second season with the team.  Three weeks ago the Bronx native netted a career high 13 points in a victory over Rutgers-Camden.  Olu Williams played four seasons for Coach Schulman.  He has equaled his career high, 17 points three times this season while scoring double figures in his last seven contests.  Chaun Miller, a two year member of the team, has netted a career high 30 points twice this season in games against Coast Guard and Brooklyn.  Earlier this season he was named CUNYAC Player of the Week.  Olando Miller registered a career high 31 points earlier this year in a victory over Yeshiva.  He was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Ninth Annual Coaches vs Cancer Tournament and to the All-Tournament Team at the Dutch-Birch Tip-off Classic.

For fans that cannot make it to the APEX for the game or the pre-game senior ceremony fear not.  Both will be streamed live.  Live stats will also be available.
