Basketball and Swim Teams Highlight Friday's Action

The Lehman College basketball teams will host Brooklyn in a pair of key early season match-ups while the swimming and diving teams entertain the College of Staten Island.

The men's contest will tip-off first at 5:00 PM.  Lehman is coming off 92-86 victory at John Jay to up their record to 4-2:2-0.   Mylo Mitchell led the charge with 33 points while shooting 10-13 from the field, 6-8 from behind the arc and 7-11 from the foul line.  Luis Hernandez (19), Andrew Utate (15) and John Brens (10) all tallied double figures.  Tonight starts a four game home stand for the Lightning, their longest of the season.  Brooklyn has struggled in the early going.  The Bulldogs are still looking for their first win of the season.  At 0-7:0-1 the Bulldogs are being led by Ben Batash and Henry O'Reilly.  Batash is averaging 10.7 points per game.  O'Reilly is chipping in 10 points a contest.

Gabe Lorenzo caught up with Head Coach Steve Schulman before practice on Wednesday.  Hear what they talked about.

Fans unable to make the trip to the Lehman campus can follow all of the action on line.  Live stats and a live stream of the contest will be available.

The women's contest, the backend of the double header with Brooklyn will tip off at approximately 7:00 PM.  The Lightning are riding a four game winning streak and now sit at 5-2:2-0.  On Tuesday night the Lightning invaded the Doghouse and came away with a 70-36 victory.  Lillybeth Garcia paced Lehman with 20 points as Ayanna Behagen (14), Aliyah Dorsett (14) and Lynda Fields (10) all tallied double figures.  Lehman's pressure defense was once again a key factor as the Lightning forced 32 turnovers and limited to the Bloodhounds to 12-54 shooting (.222).  Brooklyn stepped out of league play on Tuesday night and came away with a 55-46 victory over NYU.  Taylor George and Karen Mack led the Bulldogs with 18 and 12 points respectively.  Brooklyn now stands at 6-1 with their lone loss against conference foe Hunter 87-83.
