Post game interview with Ventura Diaz
Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team took control of the game early on, and never looked back as they defeated St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) in straight sets, [25-9, 25-8, 25-9], Friday night at the APEX Center.
The Lightning (3-6) have now won two of their last three matchups, and even their record at home to 2-2.
Emmanuel Ortiz paced the team with six service aces and dished out 13 assists in the victory.
Roberto Ventura Diaz led the team's attack, slamming a game-high nine kills and added a block. They also got production from
Yordy Diaz, who tallied five kills with four aces and four digs.
Yaw Eshun totaled two blocks along with four kills.
McNeilsen Saint-Jean added a kill with five digs for the Bears (0-9). Thomas Ambrosino and Mark Antoun each slammed a kill in a losing effort.
Lehman dominated the matchup from the early goings, totaling 25 kills and had a .333 hitting percentage throughout. They compiled 17 service aces and dished out 23 assists as they cruised to a straight-set win.
The squad will play away from the APEX Center for a few game with a four-game road stand coming up. They will look for their third straight win next Sunday, February 19th, when they take on Yeshiva University. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
