Andrew Utate scored 24 points and
Jean Marcial added 20 to lead the Lehman (16-9:11-6) to an 82-64 victory over Hunter (8-17:6-10) in the regular season finale for both teams. The win gives the Lightning the three seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Tournament. The Lightning will host a quarter-final play-off game on Sunday afternoon against a team to be determined.
Utate hit 9-12 from the field and 6-9 from behind the arc for his 24 points. Hot shooting Marcial hit on 10 of 16 and
Luis Hernandez made 6 of 11. As a team Lehman shot 34-65 (.523).
With the game tied at 33 late in the first half,
Edwin Pascual and
Mylo Mitchell made back to back baskets and the Lightning took a four point lead into the locker room at half-time. Nursing a three point lead (46-43) the Lightning went on a 16-2 run to take control of the contest. Lehman was able to keep the advantage in double figures the rest of the way.
Matt Franks and Danny Fusco led the Hawks with 18 points apiece.
The Lightning will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they host a CUNYAC quarter-final contest against an opponent that will be determined.
