Box Score 2 New York, N.Y. -- The Lehman College men's volleyball team kicked off their conference play in a tri-match as they defeated John Jay in four sets, 3-1 [22-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-17], then were edged out by host Baruch, 3-1 [19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25], Monday afternoon on the campus of Baruch.
The Lightning (5-7, 1-1 CUNYAC) were led in the win over John Jay by
Roberto Ventura Diaz, who slammed a team-high 11 kills along with 11 digs.
Yordy Diaz added 10 kills with a service ace and an assist.
Yaw Eshun chipped in with seven kills with a block. Emmuanuel Ortiz dished out a team-best 22 assists and four aces in the win.
In the four-set loss to Baruch, Ventura Diaz added another 13 kills to lead the team in a losing effort.
Peter Veljovic collected seven kills and a team-best four blocks, while Ortiz distributed 26 assists.
Nam Ho fired two service aces.
Lehman returns to action Thursday night when they travel to Brooklyn for a non-CUNYAC matchup with Medgar Evers College. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Cougars Cave.
