Basketball Hosts Senior Day ............... Volleyball Travels to York

Bronx, NY - The Lehman College Basketball teams will recognize the seniors on the team in a pre-game ceremony.  The men will take on Medgar Evers at 5:00 pm with the women's game to follow. 

The Lehman men conclude their seven game home stand having won the previous six.  In their most recent outing the Lightning defeated Purchase 93-81.  Damian Bellamy scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to pace the Lightning.  Bellamy is one of the four seniors yet will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony.  The other seniors include Vince Young, Edwin Pasquale and Astrit Krisniqi.  Young has appeared in all 22 games this year and is averaging 5.4 points per game.  He netted his career high 21 points earlier this season in a victory over Brooklyn.  Pasquale is averaging 7.6 points per game and was sidelined with injury midway through the season.  He is playing his way back into the line-up.  Krasniqi tallied a career high 11 points earlier this season in a victory at Brooklyn.  In that game he was 3-3 from behind the arc and 4-5 from the floor.  Lehman enters the game with a 14-8 overall mark and 9-4 record in the CUNYAC. 

The Cougars come into tonight's game with a record of 4-17 overall and 3-10 in the CUNYAC.  Four players average double figures for the Cougars.  They are being led by Maurice Swaby's 18 points per contest.   Earlier this season the Lightning defeated Medgar Evers in the Cougar Cave 111-77.  Bellamy was one of five players in double figures with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

The Medgar Evers women have fell upon hard times this season.  The Lady Cougars (1-21:1-12) Elesha Dieudonne's 17.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per night.  Earlier this season the Lightning went into the Cougar Cave and came away with an 87-49 victory over the Cougars.  Amely Del Rosario dropped 31 points to lead four players in double figures.  Lisa and Lynda Fields combined for 31 and Ayanna Behagen chipped in 12 points.  The Lightning enter the contest with a record of 13-8 overall and 11-2 in conference play. 

Del Rosario is the lone senior on the women's squad and will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.

The Men's volleyball team is also in action tonight.  Lehman will travel to York to battle the Cardinals in a non-league game.  Lehman stands at 1-5 while York is still looking for their first win at 0-3.  The teams do have a common non-league opponent in Wilkes.  York fell in three to the Colonels while the Lightning took Wilkes to four sets before eventually coming up short.
