Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team earned their seventh straight win defeating CUNYAC foe Medgar Evers, 95-38, as part of Senior Night Tuesday night at the APEX Center.
The Lightning now improve their record to 15-8 overall and remain tied for second in the conference with CCNY at 10-4. Before the game, the team honored seniors
Damian Bellamy, Edwin Pasquale,
Vince Young and
Astrit Krasniqi with plaques, flowers for the family and commemorative jerseys and pictures.
Three different Lehman players scored a team-high 14 points in the victory. This week's CUNYAC Rookie of the Week and MBWA Player of the Week Bellamy poured in 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Luis Hernandez added 14 of his own with two assists, while
Andrew Utate scored 14 with three steals.
Pasquale dished out a game-high five assists to go with 13 points and five boards, while
Mylo Mitchell added four assists. Krasniqi drilled a triple en route to seven points.
Joancarlo Bonilla scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Cougars (4-18, 3-11 CUNYAC) in a losing effort, while Jafet Thomas added six points with six boards.
The Lightning shot at an unbelievable clip all game, hitting 56.3% overall (36-for-64) including 20-for-29 (69.0%) in the first half. They dished out a total of 20 team assists. Defensively, Lehman forced 30 Medgar Evers turnovers, and grabbed 19 steals in the victory. They won the game on the glass, earning a slight 44-38 edge on rebounds.
Lehman complete their regular season on the road, first by taking on CUNYAC foe the College of Staten Island Friday night as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the CSI Sports & Recreation Complex.
