Purchase, NY – Despite 15 kills by
Roberto Ventura Diaz the Lightning fell 3-1 to Purchase in men's volleyball. The Panthers won by set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 11-25 and 25-18. With the victory the Panthers improve to 3-2 while Lehman now stands at 2-6.
Emmanuel Ortiz led the Lightning with 18 assists while
George Montilla added 11.
Jose Bautista and
Yordy Diaz led the squad with 19 digs apiece.
For Purchase, Andrew Schwab and Kevin Carges combined for 27 kills. Riley Damerell registered a team high 22 assists and Schwab led the team with 22 digs.
A Schwab kill early in the first set broke a 3-3 tie and sent the Panthers on their way. The Panthers moved to a 7-4 advantage from which the Lightning could not recover from en route to a 25-20 victory in the first set. In the second set the Panthers jumped out to an 8-2 lead and never looked back going on to win the set 25-22. Lehman was able to rally in the third. The Lightning jumped out to an 11-3 lead and never looked back. The Lightning cruised to a 25-11 victory in the third set. In the fourth with the score tied at 8, Purchase went a 6-0 to take control and sailed to a 25-18 victory.
