Box Score 2 The Lightning got back to .500 with a pair of victories over the College of Staten Island and City College. Competing at the Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of CCNY, Lehman defeated the CSI Dolphins in three straight and then downed the host Beavers 3-2. The Lightning now stand at 9-9 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Against the Dolphins, Lehman prevailed 25-11, 25-15, and 25-20.
Roberto Ventura Diaz and
Yordy Diaz paced the Lightning with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Emmanuel Ortiz was credited with 18 assists. In the match, Lehman recorded 36 kills on 84 attacks.
Against the host Beavers, the Lightning jumped out to a 2-0 lead winning the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25- 20. The Beavers battled back taking the next two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-20 to force a fifth and deciding set.
In the deciding set, the Lightning jumped out a 7-2 lead and never looked back. The Beavers were able to cut the lead to three but Lehman rallied to score the final five points of the set to take the match.
Ventura Diaz once again led the way with 10 kills and nine digs. Diaz tallied nine kills and a team high 10 digs. Ortiz registered 12 assists.
The Lightning return to action on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. The Bloodhounds of John Jay will invade the APEX for a non-league contest.
