Bronx, NY - The Lehman College men's volleyball team took care of business on their home court as the defeated both the College of Staten Island and Sarah Lawrence College by identical scores of 3-0. Lehman has now won six in a row. With the victories the Lighting now stand at 13-9 overall and 4-1 in the CUNYAC.
Against Sarah Lawrence the Lightning rolled to a 25-5, 25-14, 25-15 victory. The Lightning had their best hitting day of the season as Lehman recorded 31 kills on 54 attacks with only 10 errors. Freshman
Yordy Diaz paced the Lightning with 10 kills.
Roberto Ventura Diaz added nine kills.
Emmanuel Ortiz once again had a strong match serving the ball and was credited with seven aces and a team high 13 assists.
Against CSI is a designated non-conference match, the Lightning prevailed 25-17, 25-23 and 25-20. Ventura Diaz's 19 kills equals a season high for the sophomore.
Emmanuel Ortiz was credited with a 23 assists. The Lightning were challenged in the second set as they took Lehman to the brink. With the Lightning leading 21-17 the Dolphins rallied and scored six straight points. However, Lehman fought back taking the next four points to win the set.
As part of a tri-match CSI defeated Sarah Lawrence in straight sets.
Lehman looks to improve their seeding for the conference playoffs with a home match against Brooklyn College on Tuesday night.
