Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team controlled the tempo of the first set and continued throughout the match as they defeated Medgar Evers in straight sets, 3-0 [25-7, 25-9, 25-11], in CUNYAC play Tuesday night at the APEX Center.
The Lightning improve to 7-8 overall, and now have a 2-1 record in the CUNYAC conference.
Yaw Eshun led a balanced offensive attack with a team-high five kills, while
John Mark Flores and
Mentor Mahmuti each added four kills.
Dominique Herrera posted a game-best seven service aces, while
Kristopher Rodriguez (three kills and aces) and
Jose Bautista (13 assists) contributed to the victory.
Abdul Kamara led the Cougars (0-15, 0-6 CUNYAC) with three kills in a losing effort.
The squad had a total of 20 service aces, their second-highest of the 2017 campaign. They also compiled 21 kills along with 15 assists for a .189 hitting percentage.
Lehman returns to action Thursday night when they face off with Brooklyn College on the road in a non-CUNYAC matchup. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
