Box Score Brooklyn, N.Y. -- The Lehman College men's volleyball team traveled to Brooklyn, but could not come through with a victory as they lost in straight sets to CUNYAC foe Brooklyn College, 3-0 [18-25, 22-25, 13-25], Thursday night.
The Lightning now drop to 7-9 overall, and have lost two of their last three matchups.
Yaw Eshun led the squad with 10 kills along with seven digs in a losing effort.
Roberto Ventura Diaz added seven kills of his own along with a service ace, while
Mentor Mahmuti collected five kills.
Emmanuel Ortiz dished out a team-best 23 assists as the team's primary setter.
The Bulldogs (10-6) got a match-best 11 kills from both Rudy Zhao and Ahmed Moawad in the victory. Moawad and Gabriel Pjatak each compiled eight blocks, while Moaz Choudary added five kills and two aces.
Brooklyn was the more efficient hitting team all game, slamming 37 total kills and finishing with a .302 hitting percentage. They also did a tremendous job against Lehman at the net, totaling 12 blocks. In the second set, the Lightning had a chance to force a fourth set with 19 kills in the stanza but could not finish the set on a positive way.
Lehman returns to action Saturday morning as they travel to the campus of CCNY for a CUNYAC tri-match against both Staten Island and host CCNY. The CSI matchup is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and the CCNY game is set for 2:00 p.m. Live stats will be made available on CCNY's website.
