Cougars to Invade the APEX

Bronx, NY – The Lehman College men's and women's basketball teams will play host to the Cougars of Medgar Evers on Wednesday evening to wrap up the first half of the CUNYAC home and home schedule.  The women's game will start the double header at 5:30 PM.  The men's game will tip-off at approximately 7:30 PM.

The Lehman women had the past five days off to regroup and refocus as they set their sights on post season play.  The Lightning come into tonight's game with a record of 8-8 overall and 4-3 in conference.  The Cougars have struggled this season evident by their 0-15:0-7 record.  Junior Cyndi Whyte leads the Cougars, averaging 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest.  Lehman is led by reigning CUNAYC Player of the Week Lynda Fields.  The senior is averaging 15.4 points per game.

The Lightning men sit atop the CUNYAC with a record of 11-4:6-1.  In their most recent outing Lehman stepped out of conference play and defeated the Patriots of the University of Valley Forge 108-82.  It was the first time this season that the Lightning eclipsed the century mark.  Luis Hernandez led the way with a career high 34 points.  The senior was 11-12 from the field, a perfect 7-7 from behind the arc and 5-6 from the charity stripe.  Medgar Evers has dropped three of their last four and stands at 4-10:2-5.  Rookie head Coach Brian Nigro's squad is being led by Maurice Swaby and Justin Sutton.  Swaby, a senior is averaging 21 points and 5 rebounds per game.  Sutton, a junior is chipping in 16 points per night.
