Four Lightning Sides Compete On Tuesday

Bronx, N.Y. – Four Lehman College athletic teams will be in action on Tuesday as men's & women's basketball sides continue CUNYAC play as they hosts a doubleheader against Medgar Evers College, while men's & women's swimming and diving squads visit Maritime College in a non-conference dual meet.

The Lightning women's hoopsters (0-5, 0-1 CUNYAC) commence on Tuesday as they search for their first victory of the season when they meet the also winless Cougars (0-8, 0-1 CUNYAC) at The APEX Main Gym at 5 pm.  Fans unable to make the trip to campus can follow all of women's basketball action on line via live stats and live stream.

Since 2009, Lehman has won 16 consecutive women's basketball encounters against Medgar Evers.  The previous meeting between the two sides took place at on February 8, 2018 at The Cougars' Cave in Brooklyn, N.Y. with the Lightning posting a 79-36 victory.  Guard Lisa Fields scored 11 points with four assists and steals in the Lehman win.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Lightning swimmers take on Privateers at Riesenberg Aquatic Center in Throggs Neck, N.Y. at 6 pm.  Lehman men have a 3-1 overall ledger after winning its last three meets as for the women's squad currently holds a 3-3 mark this season.  Meanwhile, the Maritime men's team is currently unbeaten with 4-0 record, while the women's side is 3-2.

Since 2008, the Lightning men have not beaten the Privateers in a dual meet.  The last meeting between the two sides took place on November 2, 2017, at The APEX Pool, with the visitors winning 140-79.  Anton Kyrylenko won the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.84, while Christopher Fischer was fastest in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 52.43.

Meanwhile, the Lehman women have dropped two of the last three meets against Maritime with the previous encounter also taking place on Nov. 2nd 2017, with Privateers winning 126-79.  Sarina Eshtiaghi won the 100 backstroke with a new Lehman record of 1:05.70.  She also won the 200 IM (2:27.40) and the 100 butterfly (1:06.03).    

Rounding out Tuesday's action are the Lightning men's basketball (2-3, 0-1 CUNYAC) as they square off against the Cougars (2-5, 1-0 CUNYAC) in a conference match-up at The APEX Gym at 7 pm.  Fans unable to make the trip to campus can follow all of men's basketball action on line via live stats and live stream.

Lehman has won 10 consecutive games against Medgar Evers going back to Nov. 26, 2013.  The last victory by the Cougars was on Jan. 23, 2013, 66-60, at The APEX Gym.  The previous meeting between the two teams was held on February 8th of this year with the Lightning earning a 91-68 win at The Cougars' Cave.
