Bronx, N.Y. – Four Lehman College athletic teams will be back in action on Friday as men's & women's basketball sides continue CUNYAC play as they travel to take on York College-NY in a doubleheader, while men's & women's swimming and diving squads visit College of Staten Island (CSI) in a conference dual meet.
The Lightning women's hoopsters (1-5, 1-1 CUNYAC) begin on Friday afternoon as they aim for their second consecutive conference victory when they square off against the winless Cardinals (0-6, 0-2 CUNYAC) at York College Gym in Jamaica, N.Y. at 5:30 pm. Fans can also follow all the women's basketball action on line via
live stream.
Lehman is coming off a 46-45 home win over conference rival Medgar Evers on Tuesday. Guard
Lisa Fields led the Lightning offense with 20 points and eight rebounds, while forward
Adeeba Cheema added 14 points. Meanwhile, York dropped its last encounter, 87-55, at Hunter College last Tuesday.
The previous meeting between Lehman-York took place on January 24, 2018, with Lightning posting a 99-72 win at The APEX Main Gym. Fields scored nine points and had seven rebounds in for Lehman's 15
th consecutive victory against York. The last time the Cardinals defeated the Lightning was on February 15, 2010, 80-70 in overtime, at York College Gym.
Elsewhere on Friday, the Lightning swimmers take on Dolphins at Sports & Recreation Center in Staten Island, N.Y. at 6 pm. Lehman men have a 3-2 overall ledger and will compete in first CUNYAC dual this season, while women's squad currently holds a 3-4 mark and 0-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the CSI men's team is currently has a 2-1 record and 0-1 CUNYAC, while the women's side is winless with 0-4 ledger and 0-2 in conference play.
The Lightning men have not beaten the Dolphins in a dual meet since January 11, 2013 (149-90, at CSI). The last meeting between the two sides took place on December 8, 2017, at The APEX Pool, with the visitors winning 127-109.
Christopher Fischer claimed the 100 freestyle (51.32), while he and
Anton Kyrylenko were also part of winning 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.88.
Ryan Sanchez captured the 1000 freestyle clocking in at 12:20.42.
Meanwhile, the Lehman women have dropped six consecutive meets against CSI with the last victory coming on January 11, 2012 (115-85 at The APEX). The previous encounter between the teams also took place on Dec. 8
th of last year, with the Dolphins winning 109-94.
Sarina Eshtiaghi won the 100 butterfly (1:06.15), 100 backstroke (1:06.93) and with her teammates claimed the 400 medley relay with a time of 5:40.00.
Rounding out Friday's action are the Lightning men's basketball (3-3, 1-1 CUNYAC) as they face off against the Cardinals (3-5, 0-2 CUNYAC) at York College Gym with tip off set for 7:30 pm. Fans can also follow all the men's basketball action on line via

Xavier Boyd led four Lightning players in double-figures as he posted 16 points, while teammate
Rahiem Grant had career-high 15 points. Forward
Isaiah Geathers had 14 points, while
Jaquan Strong added 13 points for the Lightning. Meanwhile, York dropped its fifth consecutive game, losing 68-64 at Hunter College last Tuesday.
Lehman has won five of the last seven meetings against York, with the previous encounter taking place on Jan. 24, 2018 with the Lightning posting an 88-63 victory at The APEX. Guard
Fred Truss saw action during Lehman's victory as he had five points with pair of rebounds.
