Box Score Patchogue, N.Y. - One day after defeating the Brooklyn version of St. Joseph's College, the Lehman College men's volleyball team dropped a three-setter to St. Joseph's Long Island. The scores of the sets went 25-15, 25-16 and 25-13.
Lehman trailed 13-5 in set one but scored four straight points to get within 13-9. Roberto Ventura Diaz had a kill and an ace. Andres Felipe Delgado Velandia added another kill and the Golden Eagles committed an error. The Lightning got within 15-12 before St. Joseph's took the set, 25-15.
Lehman never led in the second set before dropping it, 25-16. Set three saw Lehman take a 2-0 lead on kills by Jose Bautista and Yaw Eshun. After a Golden Eagles point, Bautista made it 3-1 with another kill. The lead went to 5-1 after a block assist from Yaw and Diaz and another kill from Diaz. St. Joe's rallied from there and took set three, 25-13.
In the contest, Diaz led Lehman with 10 kills. Juan Carlos Santos gave out 12 digs. George Montilla gave out nine assists and a pair of blocks.
The loss dropped Lehman to 4-5 on the year and ended the team's three-match winning streak. The Lightning return to action on Sunday, February 18 when they face Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville. The first serve is slated for 1PM.
