Lightning Hoopsters Travel To Face Medgar Evers On Wednesday

Bronx, N.Y. – Both of Lehman College basketball teams will be back in CUNYAC action this Wednesday as they travel to Brooklyn for a doubleheader against Medgar Evers College at The Cougars Cave as the women's sides face-off at 6 pm, while the men do battle at 8 pm.

Lehman women (1-16; 1-8 CUNYAC) are coming off a 68-40 loss at home to conference rival John Jay College last Saturday.  The Lightning were sparked by forward Eriadna Vasquez who had a career-high 19 points, while grabbing eight rebounds.  Meanwhile, the winless Cougars (0-18; 0-9 CUNYAC) dropped a 77-39 conference encounter at Brooklyn College last Friday.

Since 2009, Lehman has won 17 consecutive women's basketball encounters against Medgar Evers.  The previous meeting between the two sides took place earlier this season (December 4, 2018), with the Lightning holding on to 46-45 victory.  Guard Lisa Fields led Lehman's offense with 20 points, eight rebounds and six steals, while forward Adeeba Cheema notched a career-high 14 points.

Wednesday nightcap features the Lightning men (6-10; 4-5 CUNYAC) against the Cougars (6-11; 5-4 CUNYAC).  Lehman is coming off a heartbreaking 65-63 loss to conference foe John Jay last Saturday at The APEX.  Forward Miguel Haboosh scored 21 points for Lehman, while teammate Isaiah Geathers added 13 points with seven rebounds.    Meanwhile, Medgar lost an 88-83 CUNYAC game at Brooklyn College last Friday.

The Lightning have won 11 consecutive games against the Cougars going back to November 26, 2013.  The previous meeting between the two sides came last month (Dec. 4, 2018) with Lehman posting a 84-76 win at The APEX.  Forward Raheim Grant scored 15 points for the Lightning, while Geathers added 14 points and seven rebounds.
