Bronx, N.Y. – Both Lehman College basketball teams will be on the road in non-conference tournaments for their respective 2019-20 season openers on Friday as men's side travels to Pennsylvania, while the women's squad are in Virginia.
The Lightning men, who finished with 9-17 overall mark and 6-10 in CUNYAC play last season, are aiming to continue their streak of reaching the conference postseason tournament, under helm of
Steven Schulman, as they have done so in the last six years. Key Lehman returnees include:
Isaiah Geathers (15.3 points, 7.7 rebounds),
Miguel Haboosh (11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds) and
Will Feldman (7.8 points, 4.7 assists).
Lehman will open the '19-20 campaign competing at the Susquehanna Trailways Tip-Off Tournament on Friday as it takes on Rowan University in the opening encounter at OW Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove, Pa. at 6 pm. This is the first meeting between the two squads since November 16, 2014, when hosts Prof defeated the Lightning, 74-57, in the final of the Rowan Invitational Tournament in Glassboro, N.J.
The second game of Susquehanna Tourney on Friday will have hosts Susquehanna facing King's College-PA at 8 pm. The two winning teams will meet in the championship game on Saturday at 3 pm, with the two losing sides from Friday squaring off in the consolation game beforehand.
The Lightning women, with head coach
Eric Harrison in charge, are looking improve last season's records (1-23; 1-15 CUNYAC) and are eager to get back on the court for this campaign. Key returnee from last year's squad is
Eriadna Vasquez, who in only her inaugural collegiate basketball season in 2018-19, was second on the team in scoring (8.6) and first in rebounds (8.6).
Lehman commence its '19-20 season this Friday at Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament taking on hosts University of Mary Washington at William M. Anderson Center in Fredericksburg, Va. at 7 pm. Fans can follow all the action online via

Mary Washington Eagles are coming off a split at the St. Mary's Classic over the weekend as it topped Drew University, 75-53, before falling to Widener, 72-69.
Since 2012, Eagles have won two head-to-head meetings against Lightning with the last encounter taking place on Nov. 18, 2017, with hosts Mary Washington winning the third-place consolation game of its tournament, 72-58, over Lehman.
The other encounter on Friday at Hyatt Place Tourney will have Wesley taking on Virginia Wesleyan at 5 pm. The two winners from Friday will face off in the championship game on Saturday at 2 pm, with the consolation game to take place first at noon.
