Bronx, N.Y. – Three Lehman College athletic teams will be in action this Saturday as men's basketball side commence CUNYAC Post-season with a first round visit to John Jay College, while men's & women's indoor track and field squads travel to Cornell University for an invitational meet at Ithaca, N.Y.
The Lightning hoopsters finished the regular season with a 9-16 ledger, however their 6-10 CUNYAC record was enough to secure them a berth into the conference tournament for a sixth consecutive year. The sixth-seeded Lehman will take on third-seeded Bloodhounds of John Jay (15-10; 9-7 CUNYAC) at The Doghouse starting at 1 pm.

Lehman clinched a spot into CUNYAC Championships this past Wednesday (February 13
th) after defeating hosts CCNY, 83-71, in the regular season finale. Forward
Isaiah Geathers recorded his seventh double-double of the season to lead the Lightning with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Forward
Miguel Haboosh scored 17 points off the bench, while guard
Tommy Batista and forward
Xavier Boyd each added 10 points each for Lehman.
The Lightning have won five of the last seven games against the Bloodhounds, however John Jay swept the head-to-head series against Lehman this season. The previous meeting between the two teams in post season play came on Feb. 20, 2018 during the CUNYAC Championship Semifinals with the Lightning earning a 78-55 victory and a spot in the final.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Lehman indoor track and field stars will be making its second trip to upstate New York this season as it competes Marc Deneault Invitational, hosted by Cornell, at Ithaca's Barton Hall.

The Lightning are coming off a dominate performance at the Albright College Invitational last weekend (Feb. 9th) as men's side won the meet posting 181 points over second-place finisher King's College-PA, while the women's squad was edged out 98-97 by the hosts.
Hakeem Mowatt led the way for the men's team with victories in 200 (24.52) and 400 (55.70) meter events. The native of Brooklyn, N.Y. native also captured the 4x400 Relay (3:52.0) alongside teammates
Xavier Abreu,
Aaron Dickens and
Lloyd Richards.
Meanwhile,
Victory Ike won three individual races over the weekend, claiming first in 55 (7.96), 200 (29.37), and 400 meter (1:06.75) dashes. The Bronx native also finished 1st along with teammates
Shanique James, Natasha Mensah and
Glory Odeh in the 4x400 Relay (4:53.8).
