Bronx, N.Y. – Four Lehman College athletic teams will be in action this Saturday as both basketball sides travel to College of Staten Island for CUNYAC doubleheader (women - 1 pm, men – 3 pm), while indoor track and field squads head to Reading, Pa. for Albright College Invitational at 10 am.
The Lightning track and field stars will be making their third consecutive trip to the state of Pennsylvania this season. Lehman has competed in two invitational meets at Lancaster and most recently in East Stroudsburg, last weekend, where its athletes finished in the top ten in 13 separate events.
Hakeem Mowatt led Lehman men's side, last weekend, as he finished runner-up at the 200 Meter Dash at a time of 23.19 which is the fastest among four-year CUNYAC colleges this season. He also took fifth place at the Long Jump (6.15m) and ninth at 55 Meter Dash (6.78). Mowatt also was named CUNYAC Track Athlete of the Week.
On the women's events at East Stroudsburg,
Victory Ike once again led Lehman as she took second at the 200 Meter Dash (27.49) and third in the Long Jump (4.96m). Ike also finished in sixth spot at Triple Jump (10.16m) and seventh position at the 400 Meter Dash (1:03.95). Ike stands second among all CUNYAC athletes in the triple jump and long jump; second among four-year CUNYAC schools in the 400; and third among four-year competitors in the 200.

Lehman women (1-20; 1-12 CUNYAC) is coming off a home loss to conference rival Hunter College on February 1
st, at The APEX Main Gym. Forward Selima Sangare paced the Lightning with 16 points, while teammate
Adeeba Cheema added 11 points. Meanwhile, Staten Island (17-6; 11-3 CUNYAC) dropped a 71-62 conference decision at Hunter this past Tuesday.
The Lightning have dropped five consecutive games against the Dolphins and have only four overall wins in 20 head-to-head meetings since 2010. The previous encounter took place last month (January 9
th) with visiting Staten Island posting a 74-34 victory at The APEX Main Gym. Forward
Eriadna Vasquez had a double-double scoring 17 points, while grabbing 14 rebounds for the Lightning. Lehman's last women's basketball victory over Staten Island came on Feb. 10, 2017 (79-75) at CSI Sports & Recreation Center.
In Saturday's nightcap, the Lightning men (8-14; 5-8 CUNYAC) come off a 75-63 non-conference victory at University of Valley Forge this past Wednesday in Phoenixville, Pa. Forward
Isaiah Geathers led Lehman with 16 points and eight rebounds, while guard
Will Feldman added 15 points along with four steals and assists.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins (15-8; 11-3 CUNYAC) won their second consecutive game this past Tuesday as they defeated hosts Hunter, 79-52.
Staten Island holds a 13-5 record in head-to-head encounters against Lehman since 2010. The last time both teams faced off was last month (Jan. 9
th) at The APEX with the Dolphins obtaining an 84-79 victory. Geathers paced the Lightning with his fifth double-double of the season, notching 24 points and 10 boards. Forward
Andre Hampton had 21 points and eight rebounds, while Feldman added 10 points.
