Lightning Hoopsters Visit Brooklyn On Wednesday

Bronx, N.Y. – Both Lehman College basketball teams will visit West Quad Gymnasium for a CUNYAC twin-bill against hosts Brooklyn College on Wednesday as the women's squads tip-off at 5 pm, while the men's sides face-off at 7 pm.

The Lightning women (1-11; 1-2 CUNYAC) are coming off a 76-71 road victory against conference rival Medgar Evers College at Brookyn's Cougars Cave over the weekend.  Forward Nina Gill scored a career-high 46 points along with 16 rebounds as Lightning ended a 29-game losing skid.  Meanwhile, the Bulldogs (7-4; 2-0 CUNYAC) posted at 67-65 conference victory at Hunter College on Monday.

Brooklyn has a 16-9 head-to-head record against Lehman since 2007, which includes five out of the last six encounters.  The previous match-up between the two sides took place on January 29, 2019, at West Quad Gymnasium as hosts posted an 80-26 victory.  Forward Eriadna Vasquez had seven points with 12 rebounds and two assists for the Lightning.  The last victory by Lehman at Brooklyn was on Jan. 27, 2016 (74-59).

Also at the West Quad Gymnasium on Wednesday, the Lightning men (7-5; 2-1 CUNYAC) look to extend their current winning streak to seven games when they take on the Bulldogs (3-7; 2-0 CUNYAC).

Lehman won its sixth consecutive game over the weekend after topping hosts Medgar Evers, 95-85, in a CUNYAC match-up at Cougars Cave. Forward Isaiah Geathers led the Lightning offense with 29 points, while guard Gian Batista had his third 'double-double' of the season as he notched 21 points along with a career-best 12 assists.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn earned a 65-55 win on the road at Hunter in a CUNYAC match-up on Monday.

The Bulldogs have a slim 12-10 edge in the head-to-head record against the Lightning since 2007, however Lehman has won five of the last six games.  The previous encounter between the two squads took place on Jan. 29, 2019 with the Lightning earning a 61-58 overtime road victory.  Guard Tommy Batista scored eight points, while Geathers had seven points and nine boards for Lehman.
