Three Lightning Sides In Action On Saturday

Bronx, N.Y. – Three Lehman College athletic teams will see actions on Saturday as both (men's, women's) indoor track and field squads once again travel to the Collegeville, Pa. to compete at an invitational meet hosted by Ursinus College, while men's volleyball sides heads to Union, N.J, for a tri-match against Messiah College and hosts Kean University.

The Lightning Track Stars visit the Keystone State for the second time in three weeks as they compete at the Frank Colden Invitational in Collegeville. 

Lehman is coming off a strong performance at Little Dip Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. on January 31st. Glory Odeh continued her stellar season by winning the 60 m Hurdles in 9.57 and the 200 m  (27.37) at the Little Dip Invitational.  Odeh also finished second in the 60m dash in 8.45, while in the 400 m, the Lightning finished one, two three as Odeh, Shanique James and Nathania Sampaio were the first to close the line.  Meanwhile, Victory Ike captured gold in 300 m in a time of 44.09, while she also claimed silver in the triple jump with a mark of 9.85m.

On the men's side at Little Dip Invitational, the Lightning men quartet of Tyrese Woods, Densen Curwen, Bilal Suraj and Jeron Bowen earned the bronze medal in 4 X 400 relay.   Deandre McKenzie earned a silver medal in weight throw with a mark of 14.11m.  He also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 10.63m.  Stephen Matthews finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.57m.  He also took sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.63m.

Also on Saturday, the Lightning volleyballers (2-4) head to New Jersey for a two non-conference matches against Kean (2-6) and Messiah (4-2) at 10 am and 12 pm, respectively.

Lehman is coming off a 3-0 loss against visiting Brooklyn College on Thursday at The APEX Main Gym. Mentor Mahmuti and Peter Veljovic posted four kills each for the Lightning,
 
Meanwhile, Kean won 3-1 a non-conference match against hosts Neumann University on Friday. Also on this past Friday, Messiah won 3-0 conference match on the road against Widener University at Chester Pa.
