Lehman traveled to Manhattan this afternoon for their CUNYAC opener at John Jay and came away with a 69-66 victory over the Bloodhounds. Â
The Lightning were paced by Ricardo Dixon's 20 points and 10 rebounds. It was his fifth double double of the season. Zay Marte added 16 points on a perfect shooting afternoon. The junior and Bronx native was 5-5 from the field, 3-3 from behind the arc and a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Kofi Mends chipped in 11 points and was credited with 3 steals. Â
Lehman took a 16 point lead into the locker room at halftime and extended their advantage to 20 (50-30) with 14:48 to play. At one point, the Bloodhounds cut the deficit to 2 points but were never able to take the lead. Leading by 2, the Lightning went on a 7-0 run to push their advantage to 66-57 with 3:18 remaining. The Bloodhounds once again battled back, cutting the lead to one (67-66) with 18 seconds remaining. Keysean Tracey drained a pair of free throws to extend the lead back to three. The Bloodhounds were unable to get a shot off in the waning seconds. Â
The Lightning return to action on Thursday evening as they host the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College in the nightcap of the conference double header. Â
