Bronx, N.Y. – For the first time since 2016, the Lehman College women's basketball team has four or more players earning CUNYAC honors.
Isabela Araujo leads the way as the Conference Rookie of the Year, while
Heaven Figueroa (First Team),
Sage Fanelli (Second Team), and
Emily Kennedy (Second Team) all earned All-Conference accolades. Additionally,
Nelson Asamoah was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Araujo claimed the rookie award after playing in all 26 games for the Lightning, including 17 starts. The Bronx guard averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game and was selected as the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week four times.
Figueroa, who earned her second consecutive CUNYAC First Team selection, saw action in 25 games with 22 starts this season. She leads Lehman in scoring (18.2), rebounds (8.2), assists (4.0), steals (5.6), and blocks (0.9). The Brooklyn guard was also named CUNYAC Player of the Week on three occasions.
Fanelli earned her first Second Team accolade after appearing in 22 games, with 18 starts, during this campaign. The Saugerties, N.Y. guard was second on the Lightning offense in scoring with 13.3 points per game and ranked third in the conference in three-pointers made (45). Fanelli was also named CUNYAC Player of the Week on February 2nd.
Kennedy captured her second straight CUNYAC Second Team honor after playing in 25 games with 22 starts. The Bronx guard averaged 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.
Asamoah was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team after appearing in all 26 games with 23 starts. The Bronx guard posted averages of 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
