MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES HIGH SCORING AFFAIR WITH BRIDGES AT ROOSEVELT GYMNASIUM

Box Score

The Lehman College men's basketball team (14-6 Overall, 7-2 CUNYAC) fell for just the third time in their last 15 games, dropping a conference contest to the Bridges of Brooklyn College (16-4 Overall, 8-1 CUNYAC) by a score of 98-89 Saturday afternoon at the Roosevelt Gymnasium in Brooklyn, New York.

In the victory for the Bridges, junior Daniel Nisbett put forth a phenomenal game for his team, dropping in a game-high 31 points (12-20 FG) to go along with five assists. Seven of the standout's 12 field goals came from beyond the arc, as Brooklyn drained 15 treys for the afternoon. In addition to Nisbett's heroics, junior Richard Jean-Baptiste added 21 points (7-16 FG), seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Finally, it was sophomore Ahmad Hemingway and junior Thomas Guerin chipping in with 13 points and 11 points, respectively.

The Bridges shot lights-out from the field all afternoon along, connecting on 50.7 percent of their shots from the field. Brooklyn College also dished 22 assists to Lehman's 13 while also winning the turnover battle with the Lightning by a margin of 22-17.

Despite the loss for the Lightning, senior center Alen Redzic showed his potential once again as he led his squad with a team-high 22 points (10-18 FG) to go along with 16 rebounds. Senior Duane Rhoden added 23 points (7-17 FG) to go along with seven rebounds and three assists, and sophomore Jonathan DeJesus put forth a strong effort, netting 23 points (9-9 FG) while snatching seven boards. The Lightning connected on 51.5 percent of their shots from the field but only hit on 66 percent of their free throws (16-24) for the afternoon. Following the defeat, Head Coach Steven Schulman gave his thoughts on the loss.

“Our guys played a hard-fought game this afternoon, and we had a difficult time getting stops when Brooklyn had the ball,” Schulman said. “We had a lot of things working for us offensively, and we hit on over 50 percent of our attempts, but we weren't able to get stops consistently enough and that ultimately was the reason we came up short. The Bridges played extremely well, especially Daniel Nisbett and Richard Jean-Baptiste. They're great players and tough to gameplan against. We'll recover and be ready to go Monday against Yeshiva University."

The Lightning will return to action Monday evening as the team welcomes the Yeshiva University Maccabees to the APEX Center for a non-conference game, with tip-off scheduled for 8:00pm.
