MEN'S BASKETBALL CAN'T FIND ANSWER FOR BARUCH COLLEGE AS BEARCATS CRUISE AT ARC ARENA

The Lehman College men's basketball team (17-8 Overall, 9-4 CUNYAC) dropped their season finale, falling to the Baruch College Bearcats (21-4 Overall, 13-0 CUNYAC) by a score of 86-67 Friday evening at the ARC Arena in New York, NY. The defeat marked the first time that the Lightning have dropped consecutive games all season.

 

The Bearcats shot lights-out on the evening, connecting on 55 percent of their shots while the Lightning only managed to hit on 32.6 percent of their attempts. Baruch College out-rebounded Lehman by a margin of 49-38 and dished 21 assists compared to the Lightning's 11.

 

Leading the way for the Bearcats in the victory was sophomore Sean Loftus who scored a game-high 19 points (8-10 FG) to go along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Also, it was sophomore Lionel Hilaire netting 17 points while senior Steven Bader nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds.

 

Despite the loss for the Lightning, senior Alen Redzic, playing in the final regular season game of his career, finished with a team-high 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Fellow senior Duane Rhoden finished with 10 points and six boards, and Xavier Garvin and Ratique Young netted eight points apiece.

 

The Lightning, will have eight days off before returning to action on Sunday afternoon, February 22nd, as the team will host a CUNYAC quarterfinal round game against the Yellow Jackets of New York City College of Technology in a 4-5 match-up, with game-time at the APEX Center scheduled for 2:00pm. NY City Tech met once this season, with the Lightning recording a 66-57 victory over the Yellow Jackets back on January 28th in the Bronx. As always, admission to the game and all Lehman College home events is free, so fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lightning!
