Game 2 Box Score
The Lehman College baseball team (4-17 Overall, 1-5 CUNYAC) dropped a pair of non-conference games earlier today, falling to the Ramapo College Roadrunners (12-12 Overall, 3-5 NJAC) by scores of 3-0 and 11-0 at Jeff Maund Memorial Field.
Runs were at a premium in the first game of the day. Lehman College's Francisco Sanchez pitched well but took the loss in the opener, hurling six innings and allowing just three runs (all earned) on three hits while walking five batters and striking out five. For the Roadrunners, Jack McDonough started the game and earned the win as he struck out six and walked none over three innings of work. Antonio Imbimbo would relieve McDonough, and he struck out seven over the final four innings without surrendering a walk and only giving up one hit.
Ramapo's Tim Gaven ripped a single up the middle to score senior Mike Manges who doubled and moved to third on a ground out to put the Roadrunners up 1-0 after two innings of play. Ramapo tacked on one run in the fourth inning when Gaven recorded a sacrifice bunt to score Manges from third; he then came home on a wild pitch in the sixth inning for a 3-0 lead. The three runs would be more than enough as the Lightning were only able to manage one base hit in the game – a single by Gilbert Garcia.
Game two of the day would not be as tightly contested. The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Pete Sita ripped a bases loaded single to left field scoring John McGuckin who singled to right field and Gino Gallagher who walked earlier in the inning. Ramapo would score three more runs in the inning to take a 5-0 lead.
The Roadrunners would score five more runs in the second inning highlighted by Mike McGuckin's two RBI single. They tacked on one more run in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. The game would get called after the sixth inning due to darkness. Getting the victory for Ramapo College was Joseph DeHart, as he pitched three innings and allowed no runs and three hits while striking out two. Taking the loss for Lehman was Denis Schwuchow, as he allowed seven earned runs, five hits, and four walks in an inning of work.
The Lightning did bang out six hits in the game, including two from senior Andrew Rosario, as he recorded a pair of singles.
Lehman College will return to action tomorrow evening as the team travels to Hoboken, NJ to battle Steven's Institute in a non-conference battle, with game-time scheduled for 7:00pm.
