The Lehman College men's basketball team (4-12 Overall, 1-4 CUNYAC) dropped a CUNYAC contest on Friday evening, falling to the Bearcats of Baruch College (13-2 Overall, 5-1 CUNYAC) by a score of 71-63 at the ARC Arena in New York, NY.
In the victory for the Baruch College Bearcats, standout Chris Beauchamp led the way for his team with a game-high 19 points to go along with five rebounds and a pair of assists. Tammer Farid also contributed to the victory for the Bearcats, netting 13 points and snatched eight rebounds. Finally, it was George Kunkel adding eight points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
Despite the loss for the Lehman College Lightning who did not go down in this contest without fighting until the very end, four players scored in double figures including Alain Dela Cruz who scored a team-high 16 points to go along with three assists and a pair of steals. Xavier Garvin dropped in 15 points and dished six assists, and Perry Daniel dropped in 12 points and grabbed five rebounds (four on the offensive glass). Finally, it was Patryk Odedina posting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
As a team, the Bearcats shot 40 percent from the floor compared to a 32.5 percent clip for Lehman College. Baruch College out-rebounded the Lightning 57-46, and the Bearcats also had eight blocks to Lehman's five. The Lightning did win the turnover battle, committing just eight miscues while forcing 17 Baruch turnovers. Lehman notched 11 steals compared to four for the Bearcats.
The Lightning will return to action on Wednesday evening as Lehman College will host Medgar Evers in a CUNYAC contest at the APEX Center, with game-time scheduled for 7:15pm.
