LEHMAN BASEBALL SUFFERS CONFERENCE LOSS TO DOLPHINS AT CSI BASEBALL COMPLEX

Box Score

The Lehman College baseball team (3-8 Overall, 0-3 CUNYAC) lost its third consecutive conference game and fifth straight game overall, falling to the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island (11-5 Overall, 3-0 CUNYAC) by a score of 15-1 Sunday afternoon at the CSI Baseball Complex in Staten Island, New York.

Dolphin hurler Nick Tingos got the start and picked up the victory for Staten Island, as he tossed eight stellar innings, allowing just one run (earned) while scattering five hits, walking three batters and striking out 13. Chris D'Antuono pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two batters to close the door.

For the Lightning, Jason Caraballo got the start but he struggled to get things going, as he pitched three innings and allowed seven earned runs while giving up eight hits, walking three batters, and striking out one. He took the loss for Lehman College.

The Dolphins got on the board in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Tom DiPietro. CSI would tack on a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, and added four more in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead after three innings of play, a comfortable advantage that would hold up.

Offensively, CSI was led by Henry Roman who had three hits on the afternoon, including a double and four runs batted in. Centerfielder Steve Hession added three hits and an RBI while Pat Gale had a double and four runs batted in. Thomas DeWaters added a single and two RBI's as well.

Despite the loss for Lehman College, Bobby Villante got on base three times as he singled twice and was also hit by a pitch. Veteran first baseman Matthew Arvelo had the Lightning's lone RBI.

The Lightning will return to action on Tuesday afternoon as Lehman College travels to New Paltz, NY to battle the SUNY New Paltz Hawks in a non-conference game, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30pm.
