Full ResultsPURCHASE, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming programs settled for a split against Purchase College, on Thursday evening, up in Purchase, N.Y. The men's team defeated the Panthers, 113-74, while the women fell, 137-58.
On the men's side, the team of freshman
Ryan Sanchez, senior
Anthony Preda, junior
Carlos Alonso, and senior
Jeremy Guerra won the 200-yard medley, with a time of 1:47.59. The four Lightning swimmers combined to finish the race 30 seconds faster than the second place unit.
Preda came back to win two more races. He was the fastest swimmer in the 100-breast, completing the race in 1:02.34, and was the first swimmer to complete the 200-free, with a time of 1:55.93.
Guerra narrowly won the 50-free, completing the race in 24.03, and earned first place in the 100-free at 54.36. Sanchez earned the win in the 100-back, finishing the event in 1:05.24.
Senior
Enes Mernica won both long distance races. He won the 1,000-free in 11:54.77, which was 1:42 faster than the runner-up. Mernica also won the 500-free in 5:35.87.
On the women's side, sophomore
Angela Mejia earned first place in the 100-breast, with a time of 1:18.23. She came in second in the 50-free (27.53) and 100-free (1.01.40).
Senior
Melody Ovalles earned silver in the 200-IM and 100-back, while classmate
Mosebopetan Oladele finished second in the 100-breast.
Both swimming teams will host Old Westbury in the home opener on Tuesday, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
